What To Expect

about us

At the Therapy Clinic, we believe that everyone is different, and our therapists take a subjective approach towards our clients. Everyone at some point in their life needs support and reaching out to a therapist takes strength and courage.

what is psychoanalytic psychotherapy?

Psychoanalysis is a particular way in which we think about our lives, the people who surround us and how we view ourselves as an individual.

Psychoanalytic thinking can assist the individual to reveal unconscious aspects and forces within the self, that may be holding you back from reaching your full potential. Through speech, the subject can become aware of unconscious thought processes, and conflicts within that can lead to self-sabotage or the inability to enjoy the now.

By becoming aware of repetitive patterns an individual can unlock forgotten memories and work through past traumas that are unknowingly reoccurring in the present day.

our psychotherapists

Our psychoanalytic psychotherapists have years of experience working within the public and private sectors. The Therapy Clinic practitioners specialise in Lacanian and Freudian psychoanalytic psychotherapy and hold a masters in the subject.

Each of our therapists engages in ongoing training, and supervision and attends their own twice-weekly analysis. Each therapist is a member of a recognised professional accrediting body. We are confident that our therapists will meet the criteria for the state-regulating body CORU once the title of counsellor and psychotherapist is protected. The Therapy Clinic welcomes state regulation for the protection of the public.

Our practitioners recognise the importance of speech. By following the speech of the individual and listening beyond what is said, the unconscious directs the treatment. The person can unlock forgotten memories and make connections to the past and present.

Achieving the lasting therapeutic effects of psychoanalytic psychotherapy takes time and commitment. What is required from you is that you speak, anxiety-provoking in itself.
